For Immediate Release: 7/26/12

The business IT solutions firm invests in a little "Ahoy, Matey" for a good cause.

Lake Lanier, GA:  Velocity Technology Partners, a Georgia IT consulting firm, was pleased to support pirate revelry for a good cause.  Lanier Partners of North Georgia held the Fourth Annual Pirates of Lanier Poker Run July 21st.  The event included a range of festivities, including a live auction, Captain’s Party, and Miss Castaways Swimsuit Pageant. Proceeds of the event each year are to benefit local children’s charities.  Last year, the event raised over $60,000 for Camp Sunshine, a North Georgia camp for children with cancer, and other non-profit groups.  This year, the event was able to raise more than triple last year’s amount at $170,000.

Dave Poole, CEO of Velocity, raved about the event.  “We supported The Pirates of Lanier Poker Run because it fits the essence of what our company is about: digging into the community, finding a need, and developing a really innovative way to address the need  . . . and why not have a little fun while we’re at it?”  Poole said Saturday.  “We’re proud Velocity can play a small role in making children’s lives better.”
As a Georgia native and local business owner, Poole has a continuous commitment to partner with other local organizations to raise awareness about community needs and support not only healthcare networks, small business networks, and industrial operations networks, but the communities where these businesses thrive.
